Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Illinois Broadcasters Association (“IBA,” “we,“ or “us”) collects personal information in connection with https://www.ibanewsroom.org (the “Site”), and how we may use and share that information.

How Information Is Collected and Used

When you visit the Site. Like most website operators, we collect certain information when you visit the Site, such as your browser type, a referring site, and the date and time you visit. We use this information to better understand how visitors use the Site. We also may collect information about your computer, such as an IP address.

We or third parties may also use cookies and other tracking mechanisms to collect this type of information. A cookie is a file that a website stores on your computer, and that your browser provides to the website each time you return. We use cookies to help identify and track our visitors, their usage of the Site, and their website access preferences. If you do not wish to have cookies placed on your computer, you should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using the Site.  Please note that certain features of the Site may not function properly without the aid of cookies. We do not exercise control over how third parties use cookies or other tracking technologies on the Site.

Some browsers have “do not track” features that allow you to tell a website not to track you. Because a “do not track” protocol has not been finalized, the Site’s information collection and disclosure practices will continue to operate as described in this Policy, whether or not a “do not track” signal is received. For more information about “do not track” mechanisms, see http://allaboutdnt.com/.

When you provide information to us. We also collect information, including personal information, that you provide through the Site. This information can include, for example, your name and contact information when you register for an event, or information you provide to us when you email or otherwise contact us. If you make purchases through the Site, it also could include financial information. We use information collected in this way only for the purpose for which you provided it to us.

How Information May Be Shared

We share the information we collects through the Site only in the limited circumstances described below.

Service providers. We may share the information we collect to provide and improve our services. In such cases, we disclose information only to those of our contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf and/or to provide services made available by us, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others.

Aggregated and anonymous data. We may publicly disclose or share anonymous or aggregated information. For example, from time to time, we may release aggregated information about general trends in how visitors use the Site.

Business transfers. We may share information as part of any merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or transition of service to another entity. For example, if all or part of IBA is sold, we may include information we have collected as part of that transaction.

Other Limited Purposes. We may also share information with (i) your permission; (ii) as required by law or regulation; (iii) in response to a subpoena, court order or other valid governmental request; or (iv) when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of IBA, third parties, or the public at large.

How Information Is Protected

We utilize a combination of technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction of the personal information we collect and store. However, no security program is 100% secure. As a result, we cannot guarantee that we will prevent every unauthorized attempt to access, use, or disclose personal information.

Children’s Information

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
