Journalists can learn a lot from “community organizers”. That doesn’t mean you are becoming an activist. The community journalism non-profit Free Press is out with a report which shows how newsrooms can use the strategies of the community organizers to find out how to better reach under-served parts of your town.
Some of the strategies might be tough for a small organization, but you could still find some nuggets to make you and your newsroom better at covering the entire community.
